No. The Secure File Drop lets you upload documents directly to Jakal Tax without creating any account. If you work with us regularly, we may set up a shared folder for you, which would require a free account.
We ask that you use the portal for any sensitive documents, including W-2s, Social Security numbers, financial statements, and tax returns. Email is not encrypted and is not appropriate for this type of information. The portal takes only a few minutes and is much safer.
Our portal accepts PDFs, JPEGs, PNGs, and most common document formats. If you have a large folder of documents, you can upload them individually or compress them into a ZIP file. When in doubt, scan or photograph each document as a PDF and upload one at a time.
The system confirms delivery and we receive an immediate notification. If you don't hear back within one business day, call us or send a message through the contact page to confirm everything arrived.
Yes, if you think they're relevant. Prior-year returns, amended returns, IRS correspondence, and past W-2s or 1099s can all help establish context. Label each document by year when possible so nothing gets confused.
